Technologies Behind POMOCA Skins
POMOCA’s innovative technologies are the result of years of research, collaboration with guides and athletes, and a deep understanding of snow. Here's what sets our skins apart:
- Safer Skin Membrane: We are the only skin manufacturer to use a rubber membrane. Lightweight, 100% waterproof, and robust, it allows us to use less glue than our concurrent. From the Safer Skin Light to the Safer Skin Ultra Light, we’ve reduced weight while maintaining the same level of performance.
- Ever Dry 3.0: The first PFC-free treatment in the market, this eco-friendly innovation ensures water repellence without harming the environment. All POMOCA skins are now treated with this sustainable solution.
- Grip Technology: We blend materials and weaving techniques to deliver a perfect balance of grip and glide, your skins perform consistently under all conditions.
- Glide Pro Technology: Designed for competitors and tourers alike, our exclusive glide treatment reduces effort and improves glide for the life of the skin.
What should I do when buying a POMOCA skin?
Cutting the skin:
- The POMOCA Ready2Climb skin must be cut to perfectly fit the shape of your ski. Start by removing the plastic liner, and dispose of it in the bin. POMOCA skins are designed to be stored glue to glue, it is not advisable to use a net or other protection, it may damage your skin!
- Glue the skin along the ski and centre it perfectly, then it's time to start cutting.
- Use the cutter to cut the sides of the skin, making sure both edges are visible!
Pro tip: Use our online ‘Find Your Skin’ tool to determine the perfect skin size for your skis.
Maintenance & Care Tips
Proper care ensures your skins last longer and perform at their best. Here’s what you need to know:
-
Drying: After each use, let your skins air dry in a cool, ventilated place. Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources like radiators, as they can damage the adhesive.
-
Storage: Store your skins dry in a bag, adhesive side folded against itself, to protect the glue. Keep them in a cool, dark, and dry place during the off-season.
-
Cleaning: Remove dirt from the adhesive using tweezers. POMOCA skins are self-cleaning on the textile side due to natural friction with snow.
-
Re-gluing: Check your skins regularly for glue condition, especially at the start of the season. If needed, re-glue them using POMOCA-approved products or visit a Service Center.
- Longevity: The lifespan of your skins depends on use frequency and snow quality. Nylon skins are more durable, while mohair skins offer superior glide but are sensitive to wear.
