This weekend in Bormio, Italy, the ISMF Ski Mountaineering World Cup was more than just another race—it was the ultimate test event for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games. On this very course, ski mountaineering will make its Olympic debut, and POMOCA athletes seized the opportunity to showcase their talent, resilience, and Olympic potential.

Sprint Event: POMOCA Athletes Lead the Charge

The Sprint event was a high-speed, high-intensity spectacle where every second counted. POMOCA athletes rose to the challenge, delivering outstanding performances against the world’s best.

  • Women’s Sprint: Emily Harrop (FRA), a dominant force in the discipline, claimed gold with her impeccable technique and powerful climbing ability. Right behind her, Marianne Fatton (SUI), another POMOCA athlete, secured a fantastic silver, reinforcing her status as a top contender for the Olympic Games. Caroline Ulrich (SUI) completed the podium with bronze. Additionally, POMOCA athlete Alba De Silvestro (ITA) delivered a strong 6th place finish, showing her consistency at the highest level.
  • Men’s Sprint: Oriol Cardona Coll (ESP) executed a textbook-perfect race, attacking at the right moment to secure gold. Jon Kistler (SUI) and Arno Lietha (SUI) rounded out the podium. POMOCA athlete Ot Ferrer Martínez (ESP) fought hard for a remarkable 4th place finish, while Robin Bussard (SUI) delivered an impressive performance, securing 5th place. Additionally, POMOCA athlete Maximilien Drion (BEL) delivered a gritty 7th place finish.

Mixed Relay: POMOCA Athletes Shine in Teamwork and Strategy

With Mixed Relay set to debut at the Olympics, this event was a crucial test for the discipline. The race was packed with dramatic shifts, tactical maneuvers, and pure endurance, with POMOCA athletes playing a decisive role.

  • Spain Takes Gold: Oriol Cardona Coll (ESP), already victorious in the Sprint, paired with Ana Alonso Rodriguez (ESP) to claim another gold medal, proving his consistency.
  • France’s Silver Success: Emily Harrop (FRA), fresh off her Sprint victory, teamed up with Thibault Anselmet (FRA) to secure a strong second place finish.
  • Switzerland Fights for Bronze: The POMOCA duo of Marianne Fatton and Robin Bussard (SUI) delivered an intense performance, stepping onto the podium in third place.
